Street Fighter 6’s first anniversary is packed with in-game activities and goodies worth logging in for
It has been a year since Street Fighter 6 was released on June 2, 2023. To commemorate the occasion, Capcom has a lot planned this June. Players need only to log in and play to celebrate their love for the latest entry in the classic fighting game franchise.
The birthday celebrations have already begun
In fact, the Street Fighter 6 anniversary festivities were underway before June even began. Over the course of the year, every playable character in the game celebrated their birthday with free Drive Tickets, an increase to Kudo gain for playing as them for a limited time, and dedicated character tournaments on the day itself. June happens to be the birth month of three Street Fighter 6 characters: Zangief, Lily, and Rashid.
Zangief recently celebrated his birthday in the days leading up to June 1, while Lily and Rashid are currently celebrating their upcoming birthdays which will take place on June 3 and 7 respectively. Those who main these characters or want to learn them should take this opportunity to unlock more titles with Kudos and get some new Street Fighter music packs by participating in their character-specific tournaments.
A new fighting pass and more limited goodies are currently available
Official Street Fighter characters aren’t the only ones getting love as June’s fighting pass also has a bunch of new emotes, stickers, and gear for player avatars. The biggest draw of the premium fighting pass is Li-Fen’s outfit, which is a 5-piece (6 if you count the alternate glasses) set that lets avatars cosplay as Chun-Li’s ward. Players will also get new photo frames for photo mode, device wallpapers for their avatar’s mobile phone, and the original Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting to play from the Gallery.
Capcom has also started releasing new Battle Hub content. A new Street Voter event lets players vote for their favorite character in the franchise and rewards them for participating. Who knows? Maybe this poll could influence future DLC character releases! Aside from the poll, the first Extreme Battle Tournament is also taking place, more Battle Hub arcade cabinets will award double Kudos to those that use them, and completing challenges in the new Drive Ticket Rush event will award more Drive Tickets to participants.
This doesn’t cover everything that Capcom added with the game’s new update, which includes limited-time discounts on Shop items, new background music from CAP-JAMS and Shogo Sakai, as well as new character colors, emotes, and avatar gear in the Shop. Street Fighter 6 has a history of awarding its loyal fans, but its first anniversary also aims to draw in new players. These ongoing events are designed to get more players to log in and celebrate with the ever-growing community.
Street Fighter 6 is available for PC (Steam), PS4/PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
