Stellar Blade’s director is already teasing a sequel
That’s right – with only about a month to Stellar Blade’s hotly anticipated launch on the PS5, Shift Up’s CEO Hyung-Tae Kim is not shying away from mentioning a sequel. Although the potential sequel depends on Stellar Blade’s reception, Kim already seems to have ideas about what it would be like, as he revealed in an interview with Famitsu.
In the interview, Kim is asked about the protagonist Eve’s young appearance and age. He responds by mentioning that Far East Asian people are known for looking younger than their actual age, which he made sure to reflect in the designs of the whole cast. In this context, he comments that Stellar Blade’s characters are all adults and most likely a lot older than most users imagine.
Finally, Kim’s suggestive mention of a sequel to Stellar Blade comes in the context of whether the player will ever get to know the real ages of Eve and her crew: “As for their ages, they might be revealed if there’s a sequel.” To the interviewer’s exclamation at the word “sequel,” Kim amusedly says, “Yes. So, whoever’s curious about their real ages, make sure you play and give Stellar Blade lots of love, and we will give you answers in the sequel.”
Stellar Blade has been generating a lot of attention leading up to its release, owing to its similarities with Sekiro and NieR: Automata, as well as its attractive graphics and character designs. On the other hand, Shift Up’s upcoming title is also receiving some criticism for how sexually it presents Eve. It seems that Stellar Blade’s developers are already locked and loaded to get started on a sequel, so the rest will depend entirely on how players respond to the game.
As an aside, Kim also commented on the possibility of a photo mode being added to Stellar Blade future. While the development team is too busy getting the game ready for release at the moment, Kim mentions that he will readily respond to players’ wishes in the future, so those who would like a photo mode will benefit from being loud about it (in moderation).
Stellar Blade is scheduled to launch on April 26 for the PS5. Pre-orders are currently open.

I hope Shift Up just ignore any nonsense criticism and just look at the glowing fan reception to it.
