Stellar Blade director reveals his favorite fanmade mod – and it’s wholesome

Stellar Blade's mod scene has been thriving ever since the game's Steam release, and director Hyung-Tae Kim already has a favorite.

You may be wondering which of the many fanmade sexy mods Stellar Blade director Hyung-tae Kim loves the most now that the PC version of the game is out. Surprisingly, Kim’s favorite mod has nothing to do with sex appeal, but rather the fan-favorite gremlin Doro – who originates from Shift Up’s own mobile game Goddess of Victory: Nikke.

In an interview with Game*Spark, Kim reveals that the “Followed the player’s Pet Doro” mod created by Nexus Mods user xjdyz is the one that left the biggest impression on him. Using the Doro model featured in Stellar Blade’s Goddess of Victory: Nikke collaboration, the mod allows Doro to follow Eve as she explores a post-apocalyptic Earth.

Originating from the Korean game forum Arca.live, Dororong (or “Doro”) was created by a Goddess of Victory: Nikke fan as a meme version of the character Dorothy. Due to Dorothy’s tendency to use her beauty and kindness to mask her sinister intentions, fans found the cute but excessively hyper creation to be rather accurate.

With Stellar Blade’s Goddess of Victory: Nikke collaboration DLC installed, you can encounter Doro on the way to the bar in Xion, the game’s main hub. Doro will run around the hub’s main area and will initially dodge all melee and ranged attacks. She will eventually grow tired, allowing you to hit her and obtain the Mysterious Creature Sticker that can be used in the game’s photo mode. Doro’s exaggerated animations and quick movements are so eye-catching that it’s a shame she is never encountered again. That is, unless you install xjdyz’s mod.

When asked about Doro’s appearance in Stellar Blade, Kim says that the development team had to include the character in the collaboration DLC. Even though Doro does not officially appear in Goddess of Victory: Nikke, her impact on the fanbase is significant enough to warrant her inclusion. Kim revealed that while translating a 2D character like Doro onto a 3D space proved difficult, Stellar Blade’s 3D and animation teams took advantage of her unique design characteristics and created a 3D model with a wide array of motions. Now that Doro can go anywhere, Kim hopes future mods will be as interesting.

Stellar Blade is available on PC and PlayStation 5.
