Stellar Blade director Hyung-Tae Kim unveils protagonist Eve’s first design

Stellar Blade director Hyung-tae Kim (who also serves as one of the game’s core producers and designers) recently unveiled his original sketch for the character that would eventually become Eve. Sporting long hair, an intricately designed outfit, and a label with the character’s name, the initial concept doesn’t seem too far removed from the final default outfit.

Certain aspects of Eve’s appearance have changed throughout Stellar Blade’s development. The checkered pattern on Eve’s chest was replaced by the white and green tones of her Planet Diving (7th) Nano suit. The cape-like extensions bearing the “Eve 107” label have also been removed in favor of green opaque extensions that drape over her shoulders. Even the gloves, which were originally smaller and featured a fishnet design, were redesigned to be larger and simpler. The final design of Eve’s hair was made easier for the character to manage, and is held in a modest ponytail rather than Kim’s original design which has multiple braids and hair accessories. Apart from these minor changes, Eve’s core design philosophy seems to have been untouched.

Kim’s original design concept for Eve has invited comparisons to his past designs for the Magna Cartha series, as well as  many requests for a Stellar Blade artbook – physical or otherwise. Some Stellar Blade fans even want to see the original design added to Stellar Blade’s already extensive wardrobe. Hopefully, Kim will continue to post design sketches for Stellar Blade and other Shift Up games, as fans want to see more of them.
