Sony to appear at Tokyo Game Show’s general exhibit for the first time since 2019
The Tokyo Game Show 2024 website for visitors opened on July 4. The homepage reveals a list of game companies that will be featured at the convention, held from September 26 to 29. Among the 731 exhibitors is Sony Interactive Entertainment, which has not appeared at TGS since 2019.
Strictly speaking, SIE has been participating in the demo play area of the indie game exhibit. However, they haven’t had a booth in TGS’ general exhibit since 2019 (source: GameWatch). This year, Sony will have booths lined up throughout Tokyo Game Show’s Halls 1 to 8. This has come as a surprise to users, as it was previously confirmed that there were no plans for PlayStation to appear at this year’s Gamescom in Germany (source: EuroGamer).
It makes sense only because of Totoki taking charge just recently and also having two CEO’s with one of them being Japanese and in charge of the 3rd party relations in Japan. This is a good start for someone ready to repair broken trust by Jim Ryan who closed Japan Studios when he said it’s still supportive of Japanese companies, and rebuild a foundation to be much stronger than it has ever been with Japan again.
