Sonic the Hedgehog is still homeless, Sega confirms

There’s a general consensus among Sonic the Hedgehog fans that Sonic doesn’t really have a home, drifting from place to place instead. This has also been confirmed in the past through spin-off media such as the TailsTube web series, which basically told us that Sonic just sets up camp wherever or squats at his lab when he gets tired.

Sonic Annual 2025

However, in the print edition of the “Sonic the Hedgehog Annual 2025” comic, Sonic’s fact file says that “Sonic lives in Green Hill Zone, the first level of the original game.” Fans on X who noticed this were surprised at the new piece of lore, as they’d been convinced that Sonic was homeless.

But that’s where the Sonic series’ associate lore manager at Sega hopped in to clear up the misunderstanding. @MisterCrits told fans on X that an old draft ended up being misprinted in the Annual 2025, and that the part about Sonic living in Green Hill Zone is a mistake. “Sonic doesn’t have a home, he’s still a drifter,” they assured.
