Solve supernatural mysteries in this hit Korean detective adventure game now available in English
On April 30, Korean developer Team Tetrapod released Staffer Case: A Supernatural Mystery Adventure on PC (Steam). The game is now available in English.
The game is set in a fictional version of 1960’s London, where 10% of the residents have supernatural abilities. People with these powers are called “Staffers.” When Staffers commit crimes, their supernatural powers befuddle the regular police.
Enter your character Notrick, a new detective who has just joined the Mana Affair’s Division, a section dedicated to solving crimes committed by Staffers. Gameplay involves finding clues at the scene and then piecing together your evidence to solve the crime. But conventional detective work is not enough- the player must also utilize documents to work out each suspects’ special abilities in order to make sense of the crime. You also need to channel your inner Sherlock Holmes by pointing out contradictions between the clues and utilizing your powers of deduction to solve each case.
Prior to its global release on April 30, Staffer Case was available in Early Access but only in Korean. It has already amassed an Overwhelmingly Positive review status on Steam (96% of the 1437 reviews are positive at the time of writing). Praise for the game includes its worldbuilding, characters, intuitive interface and logical cases.
On April 26, Team Tetrapod also released a spin-off game called Staffer Reborn, which is also playable in English. This time, the setting is 1960s America and the game is presented in black and white with red highlights. At the time of writing, it has received a Very Positive rating on Steam (97% of the 111 reviews are positive).
