Snowbreak: Containment Zone censors characters and outfits across all servers to comply with Mainland China restrictions

It was recently announced that certain characters and outfits will be removed from sale or adjusted in Amazing Seasun Games’ waifu sim meets shooter gacha Snowbreak: Containment Zone. The extensive X post from Snowbreak’s English PR team revealed that this change will occur across all Snowbreak servers in order to keep the playing experience the same worldwide. However purchasers can still use the uncensored outfits, and Snowbreak are offering some sexy free outfits to those who have made purchases.

“It is with great regret that we inform you that due to factors beyond our control, we will be adjusting the design or ceasing the sale of certain operatives and outfits. In order to ensure that the Snowbreak experience on both the mainland China and global servers is the same, these changes will take effect on all servers.”

The reason for the change seems to be that some of Snowbreak’s existing character and outfit designs need to be changed in order to comply with Mainland China restrictions. The X post details a list of characters, skins and intimate scenes that will be affected.

Katya- Blue Bolt is one of the operatives that will be altered- however Blue Bolt purchasers will receive the special new outfit on the right (design subject to change).

Players will be relieved to know that they can still keep the affected outfits if they have already purchased them.  They can also keep the covers and avatars that were unlocked by purchasing said outfits. As an apology to players, Snowbreak will be giving a special commemorative outfit (Fritia- Little Sunshine [Leafy Secret]) to all players who purchase outfits or skins between Version 1.0’s launch and August 30, 2024 (more details on the various compensations can be found here).

Despite these changes, it seems that Snowbreak will still have plenty of skimpy outfits and fanservice scenes in the future. Addressing the censorship issue, Snowbreak’s team commented: “In creating this commemorative outfit, we hope to illustrate our steadfast determination in continuing to serve our faithful Adjutants. We shall never forget who we are, nor lose sight of our mission to provide the content you all desire.”

This echoes the sentiment of Snowbreak’s producer for the Japanese region, who stated in a previous interview with Automaton that the game would continue to pursue fanservice as it had been identified as what the game’s playerbase needs.
