Silent Hill 2 remake sells over 1 million copies worldwide in just 3 days 

Konami have announced via X that the Silent Hill 2 remake has sold over 1 million copies worldwide as of October 11. The reimagining of the 2001 PS2 psychological horror game was released on PS5 and PC (Steam) on October 8. This means that it passed the 1 million mark just 3 days after launch and 5 days after early access (Purchasers of the digital deluxe edition were given early access to the game on October 6). 

According to the announcement, the 1 million copies sold globally includes both physical and digital editions of the game across both platforms.

The Silent Hill 2 remake updates the original with improved graphics and sound, portraying the foggy town of Silent Hill in a more realistic way. The remake’s developers Bloober Team worked with members of the original dev team to deliver a modern yet authentic experience. The game has been modernized with a new third-person, over-the-shoulder camera, and a reworked combat system.  

The devs also added achievements, various new secrets and Easter eggs, as well as quality of life improvements. The Silent Hill 2 remake has generally been received well- it currently has a score of 86 on Metacritic, with a user score of 9.6. The game has also been nominated for two Golden Joystick Awards for Best Soundtrack and Best Lead Performer (Luke Roberts as James Sunderland), respectively.
