Jacek Zięba, director of Bloober Team’s upcoming survival horror game, Cronos: The New Dawn, recently talked about how the skepticism surrounding his studio has shifted to a more positive light following the success of the Silent Hill 2 remake. Prior to their collaboration with Konami, Bloober Team delivered horror titles with varying degrees of success, and faced harsh scrutiny after it was announced they were working on the high-profile horror IP. Following the remake’s positive reception, however, the general public is more interested than ever in what Bloober Team is working on next.
In response to our coverage of Zięba’s comments over on Automaton Japan, Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill f producer Motoi Okamoto expressed delight at Bloober Team’s success, saying it was a joy as a producer to see the studio get recognized for its efforts.
Okamoto was heavily involved in all aspects of the Silent Hill 2 remake, from Konami’s decision to partner with Bloober Team to choosing which elements of the original should remain untouched. Despite his contributions, he knew how important it was to let the team do their thing.
Aside from Bloober Team, Okamoto counts himself lucky to be working on several Silent Hill projects with other studios. Neobards is putting the finishing touches on the distinctly Japanese Silent Hill f while Annapurna Interactive and Screen Burn are still working on the mysterious Silent Hill: Townfall.
The Silent Hill 2 remake is available on PS5 and Steam.
