According to the the Korean Intellectual Property Office, Shift-Up has recently filed a trademark application for fan-made character Doro.

After using the fan-made character Dororong (also known as “Doro”) both in-game and for the promotional materials of Goddess of Victory: Nikke and Stellar Blade, Shift Up has finally decided to acquire and officially trademark the character.

According to official information found on the website of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, on August 29, Shift-up filed a trademark application for Doro’s character (as reported by Game*Spark). This includes Doro’s design and several versions of the “Doro” logo.

First appearing in the Korean game forum Arca.live, Doro was created by a Goddess of Victory: Nikke fan as a meme version of the sinister character Dorothy. Doro quickly became popular among Nikke fans and developers, so much so that it has become widely known as the game’s unofficial mascot. While numerous pieces of Doro fan art exist, Shift Up has also been steadily incorporating the character into its IPs. Doro was recently featured in Stellar Blade’s Goddess of Victory: Nikke collaboration DLC, and will likely be making more appearances now that Shift Up will soon own the character.
