Sekiro player with Inner Father issues has been defeating the boss for almost 1,400 consecutive days and shows no signs of stopping. No one knows why

A Japanese player on YouTube has been uploading videos of themselves beating Sekiro's Inner Father every day since April 2022.

A Japanese YouTuber called Uni Yasumi has gone viral after people realized they’ve been locking horns with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice boss Inner Father for almost 1,400 consecutive days now. Starting out their “Let’s Beat Inner Father Every Day” series back in April 2022, Uni Yasumi is now on Day 1399 of their journey, with seemingly no signs of stopping (as spotted by Denfaminicogamer).

Inner Father is an extra boss available in Sekiro’s “Gauntlets of Strength” single-life challenge mode, which was released post-launch to give players an even tougher challenge than what the already punishing game has to offer. Considered by many to be one of the game’s most difficult enemies, Inner Father is a more vicious version of the base game’s Owl (Father).

Let’s Beat Inner Father Every Day – Day 1399

As to why Uni Yasumi has sworn to cut down this enemy every single day, it’s a mystery. Their playthroughs have no commentary or descriptions, and even the very first video in the series doesn’t offer any hints into the cause of Uni Yasumi obsession. It would be natural to imagine that their goal was to keep fighting the boss until they improved their skills, but Uni Yasumi’s gameplay has been pretty extraordinary since day one. Naturally, their movements and parry timings in recent videos show that they have the Inner Father’s attack patterns pretty much engraved into their DNA (they can wrap up the fight in about 3 minutes), but even the early videos are impressive.

Additionally, judging by the “難” mark below Uni Yasumi’s health bar, they’ve also been playing Charmless (No Kuro’s Charm) this whole time, making things significantly harder (enemy attacks are buffed and you get chip damage if you block or don’t parry perfectly). While their channel is still small at about 780 subscribers, Uni Yasumi has risen to fame on X in the past few days, with Japanese FromSoftware fans expressing equal parts wonder and fear.
