Sega XD launches “brain rental” service, letting companies rent its game developers to brainstorm ideas and write up projects 

Sega XD, Sega’s gamification subsidiary, has launched a peculiar new service that lets you “rent the brains” of professional game designers. Appropriately called Braintal, the platform and its concept feel like a breath of fresh air amidst the ongoing “AI brainstorming” hype train. 

Through Braintal, entities like companies and local governments can request game developers’ support in coming up with ideas, drafting proposals and working out the details needed to get a game development project started. The service is not available to individuals, and is being marketed towards corporations that want to create a game (presumably for marketing or other PR purposes) but do not possess human resources for game planning. The idea is to provide a way for companies to enlist game developers’ expertise only when they need it. 

The platform offers three plans at different price points – an idea plan, which involves support in brainstorming and coming up with ideas, a proposal plan, which involves the creation of a project, and a detailed plan, in which the client receives detailed materials for the game project. 

Braintal’s roster of “rentable” game planners includes several experienced developers with track records in app development, board game production and Sega game development.
