Electronic Gaming Development Company (EGDC), a Saudi-based investment firm, has acquired a large number of Capcom shares, according to GameBiz.
In a report submitted to the Kanto Local Finance Bureau on March 13, it was disclosed that EGDC now owns a 5.03% stake in Capcom after acquiring 26,788,500 shares. EGDC stated that the purpose of the acquisition of shares is “pure investment” (i.e., earning profits from stock price increases or dividends).
Founded in 2020, EGDC is owned by Saudi Arabian Crown Price Mohammed Bin Salman through his MiSK foundation. The company is known for becoming the parent company of Fatal Fury and King of Fighters developer SNK Corporation back in 2022, after acquiring 96% (now 100%) of the studio’s shares.
(Added 2026/3/16 at 19:19 JST): Note that the 5.03% stake owned by EGDC is not to be confused with the 5%+ stake already owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Cool. Guess there really is no such thing as ethical consumption.
If you think the Saudis are bad just wait until you find out about Epstein and his tribe
Which tribe is that?
If you’re worried about 5% of shares, you’re gonna have a stroke when you find out about this little country called China and what they’ve been doing for decades.
I’m glad their investing in gaming. Most companies and governments don’t see game companies as real companies. And all the weirdos virtue signiling for the internet trying to be cool, get a life. If Saudi money has to keep gaming going then us real gamers are happy to keep playing the games we love
if that’s your takeaway, you are an idiot. the saudis have been running SNK into the ground even before the sportswashing.
“Real Gamers”
Brother, shut the fuck up.
No us “real gamers” are not happy about this or the censorship that will follow. This comment is just as bad as the viture signaling on the internet.
*they’re
*signaling
It’s hard for me to take you seriously when you can’t even spell words from 3rd grade correctly, let alone talk about the state of the game industry.
It’s not just Saudi – it’s the de facto ruler. You know, the same one who is responsible for the torture and dismemberment of a journalist inside an embassy. But you keep being a “real gamer”.
The problem with the Saudis is the reason *why* they’re investing in gaming – it’s purely as a way to clean up their image while still having one of the worst human rights track record of all countries. They’re simply bruteforcing their public image with money while doing nothing to fix it.
They’re also not above interfering in game development itself: See also Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, where the owners forced in a random DJ and a therapist football star, neither of whom have ANYTHING to do with Fatal Fury, solely because they’re connected to the Saudi royal family. No “real gamer” should want that for anything that they enjoy.
What a loser. I bet you’re one of them “real gamers” that call everything woke.
Blessed hope they do some good.with the franchise.. am get some
Why do we always attack the wrong countries in the middle east? The two that cause 90% of the issues in the middle east are Israel and Saudi Arabia.
Hell yeah, which rapist are they gonna put into Street Fighter I wonder?
Unfortunately the Saudi Prince is the only reason SNK is making fighting games again.
They spent a decade making Pochinko slot machines and had quit making games.
He asked SNK (since he’s a gamer) why they weren’t making games anymore, they told him we don’t do that anymore.
So he bought SNK and told them, “Well now you do.”
