While Resident Evil Requiem features the return to Raccoon City and what looks like another massive stalking lady, the first real taste of horror fans get is protagonist Grace Ashcroft’s questionable bed etiquette.
First featured in the Gamescom trailer, Grace is found sitting with her legs crossed on a hotel bed and working on her laptop. Immersed in her work, she doesn’t seem to realize that she is still wearing her filthy shoes.
Fans were quick to pick up on Grace’s lack of bed manners, calling the act “the scariest part of the trailer” and “a huge crime.” Even the Resident Evil X account reacted, posting an image of a disappointed Alyssa Ashcroft looking away from her daughter.
It should be noted that fellow franchise protagonist Claire Redfield is equally guilty of committing the crime of sitting on the bed with her boots on in the CGI film Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. Funnily enough, Claire is also found in exactly the same situation as Grace – sitting cross-legged while focused on her laptop.
Perhaps combating a biohazard crisis requires a lot of research. If so, this would give Claire an excuse since she is actively involved in the crises that occur between Resident Evil 4 and 5 (when Infinite Darkness is set). Grace, on the other hand, seems to be just a teenager during what appears to be a flashback sequence. Regardless of what is on their screens, putting shoed feet on a rented bed is a big no-no.
Resident Evil Requiem is set to release on February 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows (Steam).
