Resident Evil Requiem doubles down on Umbrella Noodles by creating a bizarre official commercial for the fake product

Capcom publishes a Resident Evil Requiem ad featuring the "controversial" Umbrella Noodles after fictional copyright dispute with Nissin.

After the Japanese Resident Evil X account announced that the fictional Umbrella Corporation was suing Nissin over the similarities between its Umbrella Noodles and the latter’s Cup Noodles, Capcom made the feud real by way of an official commercial. Created in collaboration with Japanese e-commerce/talent company Yume Group, the ad stars Yume Group president Shigehiro Ishida and singer Yuri Hoshina alongside Resident Evil Requiem protagonists Grace Ashcroft and Leon Kennedy.

Unlike Yume Group’s official Resident Evil Requiem Terrifying Nightmare Set pull-up bar bundle, which was a real product that sold out in less than five hours, the Umbrella Noodles don’t seem to be up for sale. Aside from the fact that there are no links to any shopping or news websites, most of the commercial focuses on Capcom’s latest survival horror title.

Amidst Resident Evil Requiem’s sea of real tie-in products (including two limited edition Hamilton Watch timepieces, a custom Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, and the aforementioned Yume Group pull-up bar), it’s nice to see that Capcom isn’t afraid to reference some of the franchise’s longtime in-game brands. Then again, it would be interesting to see what kind of noodle flavors Capcom could come up with to keep with Resident Evil’s survival horror tone.

Resident Evil Requiem is set to release on February 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Windows (Steam).
