It has become customary now that with each new Pokémon game comes a new set of Mega Evolutions. While some of these forms feature designs that are massive departures from the Pokémon’s regular forms, others are nothing more than slight deviations. Mega Starmie in Pokémon Legends: Z-A is an example of the latter, having spawned several fan creations by Japanese fans on account of its long, almost human-like, legs.
Post translation: My friend showed me the new Mega Starmie, and I’m dying of laughter.
Mega Starmie’s design is, for all intents and purposes, basically a large Starmie with long appendages. As such, many Japanese fan creations have the Pokémon using its long legs for activities like wearing long, latex stockings and running long distances (usually to an uplifting theme like Spyair’s “Rage of Dust”).
Due to Mega Starmie’s size, some have started comparing it to other large stars, such as the DC Comics supervillain Starro, SpongeBob SquarePants’s Patrick Star, and Kirby’s Starman. Others have gone a step further, using Mega Starmie’s silhouette to create fan art of what seems to be a fusion of star-shaped demons Decarabia and Kaiwan from the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A features several new Mega Evolutions, but Mega Starmie’s erratic in-game walking animations have made it the star (pun intended) of the latest game.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is available on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
