Japanese video game developer Compile Hearts revealed the teaser website and trailer for its upcoming “school life RPG,” created and produced by the Persona and Megami Tensei series creator Kouji Okada alongside several other Atlus veterans. The game, promoted under the catchphrase “Okada’s ultimate message to those who will lead the next generation,” will have its official title revealed on January 29.
Besides Kouji Okada, the development team includes Tadashi Satomi, the original writer of early Persona games, as well as composer and sound designer Tsukasa Masuko, who worked on many of the earlier Megami Tensei series titles. The team also welcomes famous illustrator Ilya Kuvshinov as the character designer.
The teaser trailer showcases sci-fi inspired visuals and animations intertwined with glitch effects, flashes of red and people’s screams. In some of the scenes, the bodies appear to be mutating, and a sinister-looking “creature” can be seen in the zoom-in shot of what we assume to be the pupil of one of the game’s characters. While no details have been released yet, the creepy, sterile atmosphere of the trailer suggests that the story of the game might be a mix of sci-fi and bio-horror elements.
More details to be revealed on January 29.
