Persona 5 and Monster Hunter tracks to feature in Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival’s new release on PS5, Xbox and PC
Bandai Namco Entertainment has just announced that Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival, the latest entry in their Japanese Taiko drum hitting rhythm game, will be coming to PC (Steam), PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 7, 2024. It will be available in multiple languages, including English. The game was previously released on Switch back in September 2022.
The new release of Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival will improve upon the Switch version, adding smoother frame rates of up to 120fps – which will likely benefit the fast pace of the rhythm game. The base game will contain 76 tracks, including game, anime, Vocaloid, and J-pop music. As part of a collaboration, this version of Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival will feature tracks from old and new games including Monster Hunter: World, Persona 5, Pacman and Mega Man. It will also have cute mini characters from these titles.
Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival contains a variety of modes. The game is designed so that you can learn to confidently master your favorite tracks beat by beat alongside the game’s cute Don-chan taiko drum character and his cloud friend Kumo-kyun. Taiko Mode lets you do this, with the Improvement Support feature allowing you to hone your performance.

Competitive players can take part in a variety of local co-op modes as well as online ranked matches. Party game modes for up to 2 to 3 players include Great Drum Toy War where you must battle against your opponent to knock over their toys by playing well, and Don-chan Band, where you must work together to perform hit concerts. This release also includes the quirky Run! Dojo Ninja, where you must race through an obstacle course against other players.
Pre-ordering the game will get you a bonus selection of songs with the Namco Game Music Pack – including classic tracks from Namco titles like Ridge Racer, Klonoa and Mr. Driller. Further to that, the Setlist Edition of the game will include even more tracks such as extra anime and Vocaloid songs. If that’s still not enough, Taiko no Tatsujin’s gamepass subscription service will give players access to over 700 tracks, with new songs added each month. Individual songs can also be purchased separately.
Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival will also be compatible with the series’ dedicated Tatakon Taiko drum controllers made by Hori.
Incidentally, November is a big month for Taiko no Tatsujin as its arcade machines will be rolled out for first time in North America.
Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival is scheduled to be released for the PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X|S on November 7, 2024. A free demo will be available from August 27.
