Update (2025/05/28 at 18:14 JST): Koei Tecmo has announced that Atelier Yumia has sold over 300,000 units worldwide as of March 28, making it the fastest-selling game in the Atelier series.
Following its launch on March 21, Koei Tecmo’s new RPG Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land shot up to number 1 in Steam’s weekly best-seller ranking in Japan (as reported by IGN Japan).
Prior to last week, Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds had been dominating the top spot in the Japan charts for seven consecutive weeks. This time, it fell to second place in favor of the new Atelier game. Meanwhile, Ubisoft’s Assassins Creed Shadows, which launched on March 20, was at number 5.
The top 10 best-selling titles between March 18 and 25 were as follows:
- Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Overwatch 2
- Street Fighter 6
- Assassin’s Creed Shadows
- Apex Legends
- BLEACH: Rebirth of Souls
- Throne and Liberty
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Elden Ring
While Atelier Yumia’s reviews on Steam have been mixed so far (with users primarily voicing dissatisfaction with how the PC port has been optimized), the game has broken the Atelier franchise’s all-time concurrent player peak by a large margin, gaining a 14,067-player count (SteamDB). The PS5 version has also been received well, with a Metascore of 81.

In response to issues raised by players, Koei Tecmo has announced a series of updates to Atelier Yumia in the near future, including specific fixes related to camera behavior, improved usability, and additional optimization across all platforms. This will hopefully resolve some of the problems that players are having.
Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land is out now for PS4/PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam).
