Nintendo to reveal new attraction in tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct broadcast
Nintendo have just revealed that they will be broadcasting a new episode of Nintendo Direct on Tuesday August 20, 2024. Instead of featuring an upcoming game line-up, the special 10-minute broadcast entitled Nintendo Museum Direct will offer fans a seek peak at the museum that Nintendo will open in Japan.
The Nintendo museum is due to open in Uji City, Kyoto in fall 2024. Little is known about it so far except that it will display Nintendo’s past products- likely with a focus on video games and consoles. The museum will be housed in a refurbished building that used to be where Nintendo manufactured playing cards and repaired old consoles. (Nintendo started out in 1889 making traditional Japanese playing cards called Hanafuda.)
The Nintendo Museum Direct broadcast will introduce part of the upcoming museum. The broadcast won’t include any information on games nor the Switch’s successor, however recent unofficial reports have hinted at the console’s possible price and release date.
As well as Nintendo’s museum, game fans have other attractions to look forward to in Japan in the coming years, such as the world’s first game art museum, which is set to open in Yokohama in 2027.
Nintendo Museum Direct is scheduled to be broadcast live on August 20, 2024 at 7am JST (August 19, 2024 at 3pm PT).
