Nintendo to open new Donkey Kong Country area at Super Nintendo World in Japan and the USA

Nintendo just revealed that it will open the new Donkey Kong Country area in the Super Nintendo World located inside Universal Studios Japan on December 11, 2024. What’s more, Donkey Kong Country will also be an attraction at the new Super Nintendo World that will open in Florida next year.

The news was delivered by Shigeru Miyamoto himself in the most recent Nintendo Direct broadcast on November 12. The main attraction of the new Donkey Kong Country area is the Mine Cart Madness roller coaster ride, located inside a recreation of the games’ Golden Temple. The area also features a conga drum rhythm game, food and drink featuring Donkey Kong’s favorite food (bananas, of course), and Funky’s Fly ‘n’ Buy shop where you can buy exclusive merchandise.

Like in the Super Mario area of Super Nintendo World, you can also get a wristband (Donkey Kong Power Up Band) that links to an app on your smartphone. One of the interactive challenges in the Donkey Kong Country area involves scanning the wristband every time you find a secret hidden in your surroundings.

The Donkey Kong Country area will open on December 11, 2024 at Super Nintendo World in Osaka, Japan. Next year, a new Super Nintendo World will open inside Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida in the USA. The second Super Nintendo World to open in the USA, it will feature both the Super Mario and Donkey Kong Country areas.

More information about this attraction can be found on the Super Nintendo World (Japan) and Super Nintendo World (Orlando, USA) official websites.
