Nintendo Switch 2 accessories by Genki were made based on leaks, not actual device, company representative confirms
US-based gaming peripheral manufacturer Genki has been at the center of rumors related to the Nintendo Switch 2 after showcasing a mockup of the unannounced console and its accessories at CES 2025. Some of the subsequent news coverage has presented these as being based on an authentic copy of the Nintendo Switch successor, but this does not seem to be the case.
In an interview with Game*Spark, Genki’s representative confirmed that their Nintendo Switch 2 cover was produced based on leaked information that’s circulating in the industry, and that the official size of their product is not decided yet. They also admitted that they have not actually seen Nintendo’s new console.
“Only Nintendo can tell whether accessories for the Switch will be compatible with the Switch 2,” Genki commented for Game*Spark, suggesting that they are not in possession of accurate information about the console.
Moreover, Nintendo itself was quick to address the matter too, commenting that the images and videos related to the Switch successor are not official, and that they did not provide Genki with a device.
The Switch’s successor is due to be officially announced within the current fiscal year (by the end of March 2025).
