Nintendo eShop seemingly takes action against notorious “hentai” puzzle games

A bunch of suggestive puzzle games like Hentai Girls and Hentai Golf have had their alternative DLC editions delisted from the Nintendo eShop.

If you frequent the My Nintendo Store/Nintendo eShop, you’re probably already used to encountering mass produced games along the lines of “Hentai Girls” or “Hentai Golf” for ridiculously cheap prices, and have accepted this as a part of life. However, it seems the Switch store has been taking action against these sexy puzzle games, or at least, one of the methods they employ to gain exposure on the store.

Japanese X user Naruki, who tracks trends on My Nintendo Store, noticed and pointed out that a bunch of these “hentai games,” published by RedDeer.Games, have had their alternate versions delisted from the store since late February this year. To clarify, several of RedDeer.Games’ suggestive jigsaw puzzle games were listed on the store with an almost comically large number of different editions, such as  “Ultimate Edition,” “Special Edition,” “Definitive Edition,” “Legendary Edition,” “Director’s Cut,” “Game of the Year Edition,” “Amazing Edition,” and “Epic Edition.”

Hentai Golf on the Nintendo Store

Hentai Girls, for example, had a total of sixteen editions, but as of March 1, these have been deleted from the store. On the other hand, the game itself and its DLC remains available for purchase. The same has happened with Hentai Golf, Hentai World and Anime Girls.

Listing numerous “editions” of a game is generally considered to be a kind of exploit of Nintendo eShop’s system, meant to bump the game’s position in the recent releases section and give it more hits from people searching “Deluxe Edition” and the like when looking for other games. With that in mind, it comes as no surprise that the practice is frowned upon by users of the platform, as it clutters up search results.

Did the Nintendo eShop take action in response to such complaints or did RedDeer.Games decide to clean up the store listings of their “Hentai series”? We can’t know for sure at the moment, but it might be worth mentioning that other games from the publisher, like the infamous “AAA Clock” still have many different editions listed on the store, so it’s possible that the sexually suggestive hentai puzzle games attracted more negative attention and were thus targeted. AUTOMATON has reached out to RedDeer.Games for comment, and will be updating this article if there is a response from the publisher.

  1. I hope Nintendo told them to shape up or ship out. The brand damage RedDeer have caused themselves is entirely their own fault.

And they know this, otherwise they wouldn’t be operating on different storefronts under different names. Almost as bad as the randomly named Chinese resellers on Amazon.
