After serving as a punching bag for Monster Hunter Wilds players, the first fightable monster in the game is coming back with a vengeance. A Tempered Chatacabra will be the target of the “Tongue-Tied” event quest, and players who beat it can expect to be awarded a bunch of Hard and Advanced Armor Spheres for upgrading their armor.
Unlike the previous quests “Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo” and “Staking Supper,” which only require players to be Hunter Rank (HR) 9, “Tongue-Tied” is an HR 21 quest that takes place in the Windward Plains. Unlike its normal variant, a Tempered Chatacabra has more health and deals increased damage. Tempered monsters also have scars around their body that, when stuck enough times, can expose blue weak points which can be targeted with a Focus Strike for extra damage. Thankfully, tempered monsters share the same weaknesses as their normal variants.

When it comes to the Tempered Chatacabra, the monster is weak to Ice and Thunder attacks and is susceptible to Poison, Sleep, Paralysis, Blastblight, Stun, and Exhaust. The Chatacabra’s main weak point is its tongue, which it occasionally presents when executing some of its attacks. Apart from its tongue, the Chatacabra’s forelegs can be broken to gather Chatacabra Shells in Low Rank and Chatacabra Carapaces in High Rank.
The “Tongue-Tied” event quest will run until March 18, 4:59 pm PT / 23:59 pm GMT, which is the same time the “Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo” quest ends. Players can stay updated on the current and upcoming event quests by checking the Monster Hunter Wilds Event Quest Schedule.
Monster Hunter Wilds is out now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
