Monster Hunter Wilds trailer drop reveals dynamic world, new mounts, pack-like monster behaviors and much more
On May 31, Capcom dropped the first trailer for the much-anticipated Monster Hunter Wilds. The trailer gives a glimpse at some fast-paced and dramatic gameplay scenarios, such as fighting off packs of giant monsters and dealing with ever-changing environments.
Monster Hunter Wilds is the latest title in Capcom’s long-running and successful Monster Hunter series of action RPGs, that recently topped 100 million units sold worldwide. You will play a hunter who is in charge of investigating the dynamically changing environments of the Forbidden Lands. Monster Hunter World will introduce a new creature that you can ride while exploring the varied environments and hunting monsters. Seikret looks and moves a bit like a dinosaur crossed with a chocobo. It seems you will be able to stash an extra weapon on your Seikret, allowing you to comfortably switch between two different weapons of your choice in the heat of battle.
Each hunting area in the game will feature a contrast of harsh environments and lush regions. The changing environs will alter the monsters and wildlife that appear, so you must be prepared for surprises on each hunting trip. It seems monster behavior will also be improved in Monster Hunter Wilds, with each monster’s unique movements and actions reflecting their place in the ecosystem- with some monsters displaying a herd or pack mentality. The trailer shows a battle against a herd of Kelatonos, a new monster in Monster Hunter Wilds. It also gives us a glimpse of an encounter with a giant, lion-like Doshaguma amidst a violent sandstorm. Chatacabra is another new monster to Monster Hunter Wilds- an amphibian with tough-looking scales and a long tongue that attacks you with sticky saliva. The last scene shows a hunter throwing SOS Flares, so it seems you will be able to use this item like in previous Monster Hunter games if you get into trouble. The trailer also offers glimpses of the story- with interactions between different hunters. With changing environments, varied monsters and hints at new gameplay dynamics, we are looking forward to finding out more about what Monster Hunter Wilds has to offer.
Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to be released on PC, PS5 and XBox series X|S in 2025.
