Monster Hunter Wilds players beware! Those whose hunters are bald and have no eyebrows should take heed that equipping the Guild Knight Set Layered Armor (the pre-order bonus set that makes you look like a Musketeer) can cause your game to crash on start-up and stop at the “Initializing Network” notification.
Equipping the Guild Knight Set even once and switching it out as a bald, eyebrowless hunter will cause the game to crash, as evidenced by one player and subsequently confirmed by others. Those who happen to be affected by the bug on PC can use this workaround (found by Steam user Praise d Sun) that requires loading a previous version of Monster Hunter Wilds and changing your hunter’s appearance. Once players have unequipped the Guild Knight Set and chosen a different hairstyle and eyebrows, they should be able to revert to the current patch and resume playing. Players should note that reverting to the older build of Monster Hunter Wilds will cause any new gear introduced in the Free Update 1 to disappear.
Considering this is one of the strangest and most niche things to plague a video game, hopefully Capcom discovers that the latest Monster Hunter entry is penalizing players with a specific fashion sense and squashes this bug soon. Until then, bald and eyebrowless hunters might want to consider hiding their faces with a helmet or changing their character’s appearance before using the Guild Knight Set.
Monster Hunter Wilds is out now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
