Monster Hunter Wilds’ new Event Quest awards tribal armor sets for hunting a Nu Udra

Monster Hunter Wilds "An Inferno Laid Bare” event quest tasks you with hunting a Nu Udra in the Oilwell Basin. Here are some tips for beating it.

Monster Hunter Wilds is taking a walk on the wild side for its new “An Inferno Laid Bare” Event Quest. This Hunter Rank (HR) 31-minimum requirement quest tasks you with hunting a Nu Udra in the Oilwell Basin to create the tribal-looking Pinion Necklace α chest armor for your hunter and the Felyne Bell Collar α Palico body armor for your Palico.

Nu Udra

Nu Udra is an octopus-looking creature that serves as the Apex Monster of the scorching Oilwell Basin. You want to keep an eye on as many of its tentacles as you can (widening your field of view from the in-game settings helps), as Nu Udra uses them to swipe and slam you. Nu Udra will also occasionally douse itself in flame, allowing it to use several fire-based attacks. While its fire breath and fireball attacks are scary, you really should focus on avoiding its grab attacks and magma explosions – both of which can inflict Fireblight on you.

Equipping gear with high Fire resistance and the Blight Resistance or Fire Resistance skills will make it easier to handle Nu Udra’s fiery temper, as will bringing several Nulberries to counter any Fireblight afflictions. If you don’t have any Nulberries on hand, you can always roll around to decrease the Fireblight timer.

When it comes to damaging Nu Udra, weapons of all element types save for Fire are effective. The monster is also susceptible to Poison, Stun, Sleep, and Exhaust.

Felyne Bell Collar α

Acquiring the unique materials from the An Inferno Laid Bare Event Quest will allow you to craft the Pinion Necklace α and the Felyne Bell Collar α. Contrary to their appearance and name, these are Armor pieces and not Talismans which cover your hunter’s and Palico’s bodies. While these armors’ stats are not that impressive, their layered armors can be used to transmog more useful gear. No one will suspect your hunter is rocking a hefty Rey Dau γ chest armor under that Tarzan garb.

The Inferno Laid Bare Event Quest is live now and runs until July 22 at 11:59 pm UTC. Monster Hunter Wilds is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
