Monster Hunter Wilds multiplayer lobbies can hold up to 100 people
The Monster Hunter Wilds PS Plus-exclusive open beta finally starts today. Ahead of the launch, Capcom released an Official Online Manual detailing the game’s multiplayer features.
According to the manual, the online multiplayer lobbies in Monster Hunter Wilds will be much larger in scale than they were in past entries. “In multiplayer, players join lobbies, which are used to connect them with other players. Each lobby can hold up to 100 people, and belonging to the same lobby as someone else allows you to interact with them more closely.”
The astounding upper limit has caused a lot of excitement among Monster Hunter fans, as well as some concerns about what 100 people in a lobby is going to look like in a game with such high-end graphics. However, it might be important to note that Capcom has previously confirmed that “up to 16 of the players in a lobby will be displayed at the same time in each of the various base camps.”
The manual for Monster Hunter Wilds online lobbies details some other interesting features too, such as Link Parties. These are ad hoc parties that you can form even with players from other lobbies. They come with dedicated text and voice channels, and allow you to continue hunting together even after finishing quests.
Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam) on February 28, 2025. The PS Plus-exclusive early open beta test will be held from October 29 to October 31. The open beta for other platforms will be held from November 1 to November 4.
