Monster Hunter Wilds’ logo is hiding a secret message the developers are hoping players will figure out after playing the game

Monster Hunter Wilds art director and executive director Kaname Fujioka talks about secrets hidden in the game’s logo art.

In an interview with Famitsu, Monster Hunter Wilds art director and executive director Kaname Fujioka talked about secrets hidden in the game’s logo art. Fujioka confirmed one thing players have been theorizing about ever since the game’s announcement, but he also revealed that there’s an additional story-related hidden meaning in Wilds’ logo.

The title logo art for Monster Hunter Wilds includes six dragons, and when asked about the meaning of the image, Fujioka commented, “It’s the will of the developers, or perhaps I could even call it a kind of message.” Confirming fans’ theories that the six dragons represent the sixth installment of the Monster Hunter series, he goes on to explain, “We want to encourage players to pick up the games and play them as stand-alone works, which is why we don’t number them. However, if I’m talking about our feelings as creators, we do prefer to think of it as the sixth installment to the series. That’s why we included [the six dragons] in the logo.”

Although it was merely showing the dev team’s perception of the series, Fujioka says “it would make us happy if players happened to take notice too.”

On the other hand, the director reveals that there’s another secret meaning to the logo that has to do with Monster Hunter Wilds’ storyline. Fujioka did not reveal what it is, commenting that he’d like to see players figure it out on their own after playing the game.

However, he notes that it’s something easy to miss, or rather, kind of abstract. “Monster Hunter Wilds’ story isn’t very straightforward, and the setting and worldbuilding are very dense and detailed, so I expect there will be various theories.”
