Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance reveals Lao-Shan Lung battle and a grown-up Nata in new trailer, teases new storm-bending Elder Dragon

Capcom unveiled new footage of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance (hereafter, Ascendance) during the September 3 State of Play.

Positioned as a massive expansion, Ascendance will tell a new story continuing from the events of Wilds’s base game. The expansion will take place in a new setting featuring land floating high in the sky – the Skybound Eyrie locale – along with new fields to explore. It will also introduce the Master Rank, a new, more challenging quest tier. In addition to new monsters, Elder Dragons capable of causing natural-disaster-level devastation simply by existing will descend upon players.

The new footage confirms the appearances of Kushala Daora, Lao-Shan Lung, as well as a glimpse of a new Elder Dragon capable of controlling storm clouds.

The expansion will also introduce a new feature called the Boost Bracer. This gauntlet-like piece of equipment is worn on the hunter’s left arm. Activating it temporarily enhances the Hunter’s combat capabilities, amplifying the unique characteristics and strengths of each of the 14 weapon types.

Monster Hunter Wilds is currently available for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and is also planned for release on Nintendo Switch 2. The major DLC expansion Ascendance is scheduled to launch in 2027.
