Monster Hunter Wilds accessibility mode accidentally triggers peoples’ slime fetish
Only one day into Monster Hunter Wilds’ PS Plus-exclusive open beta test, players have found a surprising number of things to be turned on by in the game. Granted, some of it’s the usual stuff you would expect – like the satisfying amount of boob jiggle physics, but the slime fetish community is having a field day too.
Players have discovered that Monster Hunter Wilds’ Arachnophobia Assistance mode can look very freaky at times. For context, this is an accessibility feature that people with a fear of spiders and insects can use to make the game easier to stomach. Switching the mode on turns all arachnid and bug-like monsters into blobs of slime.
While this doesn’t change how the enemies act or attack, it makes certain scenes look…different. One player’s in-game clip highlighting Monster Hunter Wild’s “freaky mode” has amassed over 100k likes on X.
They also provide a clip of the same scene with Arachnophobia Assistance off, but note that it looks “way hotter” with the accessibility feature on. So, if you’re into being pinned down by giant slimes, you may have even more to look forward to in Monster Hunter Wilds than you originally thought.
Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam) on February 28, 2025. The PS Plus-exclusive early open beta test is being held from October 29 to October 31. The open beta for other platforms will be held from November 1 to November 4.
