Mecha BREAK producer talks about possibility of Steam Deck gyroscope and other alternative controls
Fresh off Mecha BREAK’s open beta, Amazing Seasun Games recently held a Q&A with the game’s executive producer Kris Kwok regarding the mecha title’s future. While the game is still slated for a 2025 release, Kwok talked about other ways to play Mecha Break besides a standard mouse, keyboard, and controller.
Kwok revealed that the development team is currently working on implementing the Steam Deck’s gyroscope controls with Mecha Break’s robot battles. The game’s combat is very hectic and fast-paced, so seeing someone shift a Steam Deck around to keep up with enemy bots and other players would be interesting, to say the least. Kwok mentions that playing Mecha Break with gyroscope controls enabled could lead to a hefty workout, as he saw one of the game’s engineers try it for themselves. The implementation of gyroscope controls also gives hope that the game will be made available on the Nintendo Switch at some point, as the console uses similar controls.
Another method of playing Mecha Break is the flight stick controller, which Kwok mentions he will be able to showcase in the next stream. Aside from these two unique control methods, other ways to play Mecha Break are in development as well.
Mecha Break is set to release in 2025 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
