Mecha BREAK producer hints at new mech and pilot customization options, explorable space stations, and even a pilot combat mode

Mecha BREAK developer Amazing Seasun Games just dropped a special video ahead of the title’s appearance at New York Comic Con. In the video, CEO and producer Kris Kwok offers a sneak peek at all the exciting future updates that players can expect to be added to the upcoming mech combat game in time for its next test.

Mecha BREAK devs previously revealed in our TGS interview that they were surprised and pleased by how players got super into mech customization and sharing their creations on social media. In the new features video, Kwok touches on this popularity, revealing that “We hope to keep this energy going and offer more customization options.”  He then confirmed that players can expect a whole host of extra customization options in the next version of Mecha BREAK.

Giving more detail, Kwok explains that the next version will include all kinds of patterns and decals that can be applied to your mech anywhere you want them. Mecha BREAK will also add a number of insignia slots to your mech so that you can show off your in-game achievements. More colors and hydro-coating options are also on the way.

Mecha BREAK Battle Scars options in mech customization mode

So far, many players seem to have been focusing on making the most perfect-looking mechs and the most beautiful pilots they can. However, if you want to make your mech look like it has had a tough life with lots of scratches and dents, Amazing Seasun Games has you covered there too, as they will be adding “battle scars” to the customization options. Likewise, for the pilots, it will be possible to make their suits look well-worn. You will also be able to give your pilot more hairstyles and add other features like tattoos.

As teased in the August Open Beta test, the team is also adding special pilots to Mecha BREAK.  Unlocking one of these pilots also unlocks their matching custom Striker mech. Amazing Seasun Games are planning to reveal more about these matching mech-pilot combos in the near future.

Mecha BREAK hangar exploration

The devs are also planning to add more exploration to the game. In between customizing and battling, you will be able to wonder around all areas of the hangar on foot- including the gym, cafeteria, bar, dorm rooms, shooting range and tactical station area. This should give players a different perspective on the world of Mecha BREAK.

As for long term plans, Kwok hinted that the team might add a pilot combat mode into the game at a later date. This would likely start out with a shooting mode, which will enable your pilot to get some target practice in at the hangar’s shooting range. “This is something we are currently exploring,” Kwok explains. As previously mentioned, Mecha BREAK will be at New York Comic Con from October 17 to 20, 2024. Those who are interested should check out their booth.

Mecha BREAK is scheduled for release on PC (Steam) and consoles sometime in 2025. More open and closed testing sessions will be held prior to the full game’s release.
