In Marvel Rivals’ Dev Vision video for the upcoming Season 1.5 update, creative director Guangyun Chen revealed that Luxury Battle Pass owners will be able to exchange excess Chrono Tokens for more useful Units. The change comes as a response to the fact that excess Chrono Tokens earned during a season do not carry over to the next season.
Chrono Tokens are a Marvel Rivals currency earned by completing daily, weekly, and event challenges. The tokens can be exchanged for Battle Pass rewards, but have little use once the pass is completed (or all the free earnable rewards are earned for standard Battle Pass owners).
The Season 1.5 update seeks to increase the value of Chrono Tokens by introducing a new currency exchange system. Once all Battle Pass pages are complete, new pages will allow you to swap 1,000 Chrono Tokens for 100 Units, with Units being a more versatile Marvel Rivals currency that can be used to purchase cosmetics and other items. This change not only incentivizes players to complete challenges well after obtaining everything in the Battle Pass, but to purchase the Luxury Battle Pass as well.
Based on Chen’s statement in the Dev Vision video, only those who bought the Luxury Battle Pass will be able to exchange their excess Chrono Tokens for Units. The cheaper version of the Luxury Battle Pass costs 990 Lattice (a Marvel Rivals currency that can be earned through Battle Passes or bought with real money), while the more expensive version costs 2,100 Lattice. The base Luxury Battle Pass only gives you access to the premium rewards, while the expensive Luxury Battle Pass provides access as well as an extra 2,800 Chrono Tokens and a 20% Chrono Token acquisition bonus when completing Battle Pass challenges.
This currency exchange system seems to be more focused towards those who play Marvel Rivals regularly, as there is a higher chance these players will purchase the Luxury Battle Pass. Being able to exchange the Chrono Tokens earned from playing the game into Units for more cosmetics is one of the new ways NetEase Games is rewarding players who go the extra mile to complete their Battle Pass challenges.
