Following the announcement of several hero nerfs and buffs in the Season 1.5 update Dev Vision video, Marvel Rivals combat designer Zhiyong revealed that while the development team is committed to delivering patches at the start and middle of each season, it also won’t hesitate to drop emergency balance patches when the need arises. This comes after the severely oppressive “Tripple-Strategist” meta that has been prevalent in competitive play.
According to Zhiyong, the development team will continue to keep a close eye on the game environment throughout each half-season. If the developers spot anything too strong or too weak, they will swoop in with one small adjustment to keep things as balanced as can be in Marvel Rivals. Zhiyong adds that these emergency patches will be infrequent and will be done only when necessary, as changing the game too much too often will cause it to become unstable.

Issues such as the aforementioned “Triple-Strategist” meta, Moon Knight’s overpowered Hand of Konshu ultimate ability, and Captain America’s overall lackluster performance will be addressed with the upcoming Season 1.5 update, but Zhiyong’s announcement hopefully means that similar issues won’t take as long to fix in the future.
Marvel Rivals is available for PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S. The Season 1.5 update is set to release on February 21 at 12 midnight (UTC).
