Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii release date moved up by a week to give people time for Monster Hunter Wilds

Sega and RGG Studio have announced that Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will be launching a week earlier than initially announced. The new release date is February 21, 2025.

In a video message addressed to fans, RGG Studio’s head Masayoshi Yokoyama says that the studio decided to bring forward the game’s launch partly due to development going more smoothly than expected, but also to give players time to enjoy the game that will come out after it. Later in the video, he says that he hopes players will “enjoy the world of hunting” (or “enjoy hunting” as per the official translation) after playing Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, alluding to Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds.

The latest mainline entry in the Monster Hunter series was recently announced for a February 28 launch, which would have overlapped with Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii’s release. It seems this influenced Sega and RGG Studio’s decision to change the release date.

On a related note, the announcement was accompanied by a new trailer showcasing the upcoming game’s naval combat.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is scheduled to release on February 21, 2025 for the PC (Steam), PS4/PS4 and Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S
