Krafton achieves record-high revenue in first half of 2025 thanks to PUBG; plans to invest in AI

Krafton saw the highest revenue from its mobile game sector, while PUBG: Battlegrounds dominated its PC game sector.

Krafton published its earnings for the first half of 2025 on June 29. Mid-year earnings totaled KRW 1.5362 trillion in revenue (roughly $1 billion USD) and an operating profit of KRW 703.3 billion ($506 million USD), setting a new record for the company.

According to an official press release from Krafton, the majority of the company’s revenue came from its mobile game division (around $692 million USD), followed by its PC division (around $391 million USD). Console and other platforms net the company roughly $23.7 million USD in revenue.

Krafton’s mobile business saw the highest revenue from games like Battlegrounds Mobile India, whose marketing and collaboration efforts with popular Indian brands drew in a large number of players. Outside of Battlegrounds Mobile India, Krafton-published titles with cosmetic content have proved to be lucrative.

PC revenue growth was largely attributed to PUBG: Battlegrounds, whose recent Contender character system and live service updates incentivize players to spend more time and money on the game.

Given PUBG: Battlegrounds’ success on mobile and PC platforms, Krafton is looking to do more in-game collaborations with popular brands. An upcoming collaboration with Bugatti is in the works, as is another one with K-pop group aespa. PUBG: BLINDSPOT is also set to debut at Gamescom 2025 as a top-down shooter for PC.

Krafton will continue its quest to develop and publish new IPs, as well as expand its reach in games and other industries. It recently acquired Eleventh Hour Games, a US indie studio known for the top-down action RPG Last Epoch. Krafton also acquired Korean company Neptune and the Japan-based ADK Group in April and July respectively. Both companies specialize in advertising, while Neptune dabbles in mobile gaming and ADK Group was involved in the production and promotion of over 300 anime titles

Lastly, Krafton will invest more heavily in game-related AI. While it recently used NVIDIA technology in the life sim inZOI to create realistic NPC reactions, Krafton wants to develop its own AI systems that improve the experience of its games.
