Japanese Unreal Engine powerhouse to launch knockout-style PvP penguin racing game for up to 40 players on September 20
Japanese game developer Historia, who specialize in Unreal Engine development, announced that they will launch their wacky 3D action racing game Faaast Penguin on September 20 for the PC (Steam/Epic Games) and PS5. Xbox and Nintendo Switch versions are currently in development too.
Faaast Penguin is a free-to-play online PvP game in which you, a penguin, battle it out against a maximum of 40 other penguins in chaotic knockout-style races. The game supports crossplay between platforms and requires an Epic Games Account.
Apparently, the penguins are all on vacation, heading for an extravagant dinner. As a resort activity, they clash in elimination-style battle royale races across unique courses, including high-speed water slides and desert pyramids. As you play, you will discover that the race courses have various gimmicks and obstacles. You need to collect items, attack your opponents and take shortcuts skillfully to get ahead. The victor is the player with the most accumulated points at the end.
Aside from custom online matches that allow up to 40 players, Faaast Penguin will also come with a solo mode and party mode for 2-4 players. Players will be able to customize their costumes, rides and emotes. New courses and skins will be added to the game on a seasonal basis.
Faaast Penguin’ currently has 500,000 preregistered users. In addition, a recent open beta test (held from September 7 to 9) attracted 10,693 players, 93% of which found the game entertaining and 90% of which said they wanted to keep playing – indicating a high level of satisfaction.
Faaast Penguin launches on September 20 for the PC (Steam/Epic Games) and PS5. The Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S versions are currently under development and TBA.
