Japanese live-action romance sim lets you become the pampered pet hamster of three sistersĀ

Cuddles, treats and naps.

Kodansha Game Creators’ Lab announced an unusual new project on August 5. The Japanese publisher is collaborating with photo magazine FRIDAY to develop Sweet Hamster Days, a live-action interactive romance game in which the player assumes the role of a hamster. The game is slated for a Winter 2025 release on Steam with English language supported.Ā

With a Japanese title that roughly translates to ā€œMy Sweet Days with Three Sisters After Reincarnating as a Hamster,ā€ this game follows the story of protagonist Kota, who in typical isekai anime fashion gets reincarnated following a traffic accident. Kota is reborn as a hamster after coming back to his hometown, where he was supposed to reunite with his childhood friends for the first time in six years.

As fate would have it, his childhood friends – the Shiratori sisters – become Kota’s new owners. As Kota (or Hamta, his new name), you get to live the life of a pampered pet hamster while interacting with the three sisters – taking naps, getting cuddles and eating treats. Living as their pet, you’ll notice that the sisters’ relationship has become strained over the years, and you’ll make choices that will help you find out what went wrong and solve the issues between them.

Being ā€œnothing moreā€ than a pet hamster, you’ll also get a glimpse into the private lives of the girls, including sides of their personalities they only show at home. Furthermore, if you manage to make the sisters happy, you’ll unlock ā€œsexy and cuteā€ 4K videos of them as rewards. The game unfolds through a combination of live-action footage and dialogue choices, all through a hamster-eye perspective

The three sisters – Himari, Futaba and Miyu – are played by Japanese gravure idol Sayaka Tomaru, actress Momoka Takatsuru, and Shiori Ikemoto of idol group Tera Tera respectively. Sweet Hamster Days’ scenario was penned by Ken Shimomura of Onmyoji fame. The developers warn for ā€œsome nudity” and “sexual content.ā€Ā

Sweet Hamster Days is scheduled to launch in Q4 of 2025 for PC (Steam).
