Japanese analyst says Nintendo Switch’s successor will be priced at $499 or under and launch in the first half of 2025

In the past few days, there have been rumors circulating that game developers have been told not to expect Nintendo’s next-generation console during the current fiscal year. This was followed by a report from Toyo Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda (as relayed by Takashi Mochizuki) that predicts that the Switch successor will launch in the first half of next year.

Based on these two factors, it could be assumed that the new console’s launch window is between April (when the new fiscal year begins) and June 2025. The report also mentions that Nintendo will price the Switch’s successor at $499 or under, which could potentially put it at a steep price point for Japanese buyers due to the yen’s value against the dollar. The console’s performances are expected to be at the level of the PS4 Pro or under.
