Fresh off of Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road selling 800,000 copies worldwide, Level-5 president Akihiro Hino revealed via a January 13 livestream that a direct sequel is currently in the works. Hino, who serves as one of the franchise’s key figures and a writer on Victory Road, has begun drafting the script himself.
The announcement may not come as a surprise to some, given Hino’s confidence that Victory Road would become a hit before its release. Victory Road’s Player Bank feature, which makes the game’s massive 5,400 roster more manageable by letting players store recruited characters along with their current gear and stats (as well as switch them into their active team), also allows them to be ported over to the then-unannounced sequel.
Now that the sequel has been confirmed, Victory Road players no longer need to worry about having to leave behind the teams that they’ve painstakingly built once it comes out (the possibility of even more characters being added is another concern, however). This does not mean Level-5 is abandoning Victory Road. During the same livestream, Hino announced several upcoming free updates which will add new content and quality-of-life features to the 2025 soccer RPG.
According to Hino, he will “do his best to deliver surprises and excitement to fans” with the next entry. Since the sequel was announced without much delay after the launch of Victory Road, fans seem pretty hopeful about (probably) not having to wait more than a decade for another Inazuma Eleven game despite the previous lull between mainline entries (Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road released 15 years after Inazuma Eleven 3). More details will be revealed in future announcements.
