Hideki Kamiya reacts to the revelation that someone at CLOVERS has a figure of him (sort of) on their desk
The official X account of CLOVERS made a rather humorous post on January 8 revealing that a member of staff at the studio has a figure on their desk that bears a striking resemblance to studio head and chief game designer Hideki Kamiya. Surprisingly, the Bayonetta and Okami creator, who is also known for his blocking sprees and retorts on social media, seems to agree.
Currently working on the upcoming Okami sequel, CLOVERS is the new studio established by Hideki Kamiya and former PlatinumGames/freelance game developer Kenta Koyama. The studio’s philosophy prioritizes creativity and focuses on what the individual can bring to the team, with each member choosing their own personal 4th C to add to the company’s motto (examples include “cleanliness”, “crazy” and “coffee break”- more about that here).
This latest tweet about an action figure that could be said to look a lot like Kamiya certainly suggests that the fledgling studio’s creative atmosphere has a sense of fun. The figure is actually of Japanese comedian Kuro-chan, but with some adjustments, it could be made to look more like the legendary developer behind Bayonetta, Okami and Viewtiful Joe.
Hideki Kamiya himself seems to agree. In his retweet of the post, he proposes that someone should make alterations to the figure.
In other news, CLOVERS also posted images today of the project briefing and welcoming session they held for new staff. They are still actively recruiting creatives across all game development positions.
