Japanese publisher Regista announced their exploration-focused adventure game Alice in Wonder Underland -AIWU- on March 3. Scheduled to release within 2026, the game will be available for the Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam).
Waking up in a bizarre, fantasy-like world, players find themselves in the shoes of protagonist Alice who, guided by curiosity, decides to explore the mysterious surroundings, venturing deeper into the unknown. The world features over 30 different areas, ranging from fairytale-inspired surrealistic realms to creepy-looking rural Japanese townscapes.
Exploring the surrealist scenery as she slips between worlds using a transport device, Alice will be able to discover and unlock a variety of costumes, which play an important role in her adventure. Dressing up Alice in new outfits unlocks paths that were previously unreachable and expand the scope of her journey.
After waking up in the mysterious world, Alice also lost her voice for unknown reasons, so she has to rely on her companion Noir Bunny and a few select others who seem to be able to sense her thoughts and feelings. But despite Noir Bunny being a friend supporting her throughout the adventure, it appears like other Black Rabbits are holding a grudge against Alice, and may even try to stand in her way.

On top of the exploration-focused gameplay, various puzzles and retro-styled minigames are scattered throughout the world. But while they may offer a good change of pace, the developers suggest that something much darker is lurking beneath the surface.
The game features an original story and hand-drawn art by multimedia artist Suzume Takanashi, with the development being handled by Roman Geimu of YMCAT. The music is composed by Yoshifumi Ikeda, ex-member of arcade developer Taito’s sound team Zuntata.
Alice in Wonder Underland -AIWU- is set to release in the second quarter of 2026 for PC (Steam) and the Nintendo Switch.
