Guilty Gear Strive exploit allows Venom to do 900+ damage in one combo

An exploit in Guilty Gear Strive allows Venom to do massive damage with a tricky to execute but severely overpowered combo.

As if Venom’s past moves and combos weren’t enough for players to hate fighting him, Guilty Gear Strive currently has an exploit where Venom players can deal a whopping 931 damage to an opponent in a single combo. Seeing as the combo is rather simple, players are confident this isn’t how the interaction should work.

The combo goes as follows:

After performing Venom’s Ball Set (Multiple) near an enemy, follow up with Tryambaka (Venom’s command grab). Tryambaka will turn the opponent into a ball, which can be hit with Carcass Raid. As the ball-form opponent gets hit by the balls created by Ball Set, finish up by slightly delaying Venom’s Dark Angel Overdrive.

It should be noted that the Potemkin in the video is in the corner, which is possibly the only area where the combo can be performed successfully.

According to the Guilty Gear Strive player who uploaded the video, the high damage could be the result of the animation of hitting an opponent with the balls coinciding with the production of Dark Angel. As the ball opponent is taking damage from Carcass Raid, the execution of Dark Angel causes the opponent and balls to retain their hitboxes. The damage is compounded, resulting in a quick elimination.

While the combo is simple, the execution is rather difficult. The player explains that Dark Angel must be delayed to just the right moment after performing Carcass Raid for the combo to land. You won’t see Venom players pull this combo off in every match, but it is possible given enough practice and the right circumstances.

Guilty Gear Strive is currently available on PS4/PS5, PC (Windows), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and arcades.
