Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers anime gets April 2025 release date and trailer showcasing new and returning characters
Sanzigen’s Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers anime air date has been updated to April 2025, following a main trailer that delves into the story set after the events of the Guilty Gear Strive fighting game. The trailer gives a closer look at the new character Unika (who will be added to Guilty Gear Strive this Spring), as well as several familiar faces:
After defeating Happy Chaos and I-No, Ky Kiske and Dizzy seek to be officially married. However, due to Dizzy’s nature as a half-Gear (a race of magical humans that were created to advance human evolution but were repurposed as weapons of war), many view Ky and Dizzy’s union as unnatural and taboo. The wedding is crashed by Unika, a human girl intent on preventing the wedding and eliminating all Gears.
Joining Ky, Dizzy, and Unika are Guilty Gear characters Sol Badguy (who looks to have regained some of his power after having the Flame of Corruption removed from his body in Guilty Gear Strive), Sin Kiske (son of Ky and Dizzy), Jack-O’, Johnny, Bridget, Baiken, Elphelt Valentine, Ramlethal Valentine, Leo Whitefang, and Vernon E. Groubitz.
While the main story seems to focus on Ky, Dizzy, and Sin as they try to prevent Unika from restarting the Crusades (a hundred-year war between Gears and humans), the rest of the cast will have their own adventures that tie into the overarching plot. The returning characters will be portrayed by the same Japanese voice actors in Guilty Gear Strive, save for Vernon who will be voiced by Junichi Endo.
Unlike many fighting game series, the Guilty Gear franchise has a deep lore that explains why characters are beating each other up. Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers removes the gameplay and lets viewers take in the story while experiencing killer action scenes.
Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers is set to air on April 2025.
