Granblue Fantasy developer Cygames to strengthen global expansion, appointing new management to overseas branches in Korea and Taiwan
Cygames announced management reorganizations for its Cygames Korea and Cygames Taiwan branches on October 25. The Japanese game developer and publisher is appointing key personnel in the region in order to strengthen its global business.
In the official press release, Cygames commented that they are “focusing on global expansion,” with console releases such as Granblue Fantasy: Relink (which launched in February 2024) and the upcoming online card game Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond (which is scheduled to release on mobile and PC in 2025). To this end, Cygames hopes to further enhance local marketing, promotion and rights-related operations by restructuring its management in South Korea and Taiwan.
At Cygames Korea, Norio Chiba and Naoki Hara have been appointed as managing director and local representative, respectively. For Cygames Taiwan, Tsuyoshi Katsura will fill both roles. Katsura is a marketing/PR veteran who previously worked at Koei Tecmo for many years before joining Cygames last year.
Cygames has been strengthening its local operations in recent years, establishing Cygames America in the US, Cygames Europe in the UK, as well as Cygames Singapore back in May. All of these branches are headed by industry veterans. The developer has been operating in Taiwan and South Korea for a while now, and the appointment of experienced managers is expected to accelerate local expansion.
