FromSoftware’s Bloodborne posts on Instagram add fuel to the hype for the franchise’s comeback

FromSoftware’s recent Instagram activity has caused quite a buzz as the Japanese game company posted images of its 2015 hit Bloodborne. Three images were posted, with nothing but the game title and the hashtag “bloodborne” accompanying them.

To add more context, all of the images are from Bloodborne’s base game. Retired Hunter Djura guards Old Yharnam atop a tower with his Gatling Gun, while the other two images are of the player Hunter in Yharnam proper and Hemwick Charnel Lane.

While the images likely have no deeper meaning other than FromSoftware tooting its own horn (the Instagram page occasionally posts images from past games like Armored Core V and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in a similar format), the number of engagements on the Bloodborne posts shows people’s interest in anything related to the game. Most of the comments on the Bloodborne posts are requests for either a sequel or a remake of FromSoftware’s Gothic, Victorian-style game.

Japanese users on X have even taken to analyzing the textures on the images, hoping to find proof of a remastered version being teased.

Requests (or rather, demands) for a Bloodborne remake or rerelease have appeared ever since the game was released exclusively on PlayStation 4 in 2015. Streamers like Kai Cenat have played the game in hopes of making something happen, and even FromSoftware’s own Hidetaka Miyazaki says that the game “would benefit from a release on more modern hardware”, according to an interview with IGN.

Alas, the decision is up to Sony, who owns the rights to Bloodborne. Perhaps if enough of the game’s developers and fans make their voices heard, then the company will be obliged to quell their demands. So keep those Bloodborne requests coming; a remake is bound to happen someday!
