Former Idolmaster director is working on new sci-fi romance bishojo visual novel Valkyrie Tune: Synthesis of Souls

Interestingly, this is a video game adaptation of a model kit franchise.

Good Smile Company has announced Valkyrie Tune: Synthesis of Souls, an upcoming visual novel based on its music-inspired line of bishōjo model kits. Initially teased back in June 2025, the full title and details were recently revealed, along with news of an upcoming PC demo set to release before the end of 2025.

Valkyrie Tune: Synthesis of Souls centers on Rei, a faceless male amnesiac who wakes up from cryogenic sleep to find himself in a future world where female warriors called the TUNED (Tactical Unit for Neutralization and Enhanced Defense) engage in totally legal fights at a night arena. Armed with Harmonic Weapons (deadly versions of modern musical instruments), the TUNED strive to rise through the ranks, with hopes that their deepest desires may be granted. As Rei’s journey intertwines with six TUNED warriors, he learns more about them and the world, while regaining his forgotten memories and discovering why the TUNED have taken to calling him the “Messiah.”

Developed by FrontWing (a Good Smile Company-owned visual novel studio), Synthesis of Souls is helmed by Akihiro Ishihara, who was the main director of The Idolmaster series of games until 2016 and a writer for the Umamusume: Pretty Derby anime adaptation until 2019. He serves as the producer for the entire Valkyrie Tune mixed media project, as well as producer, original concept writer, scenario writer, and game designer for the new game adaptation.

Valkyrie Tune: Synthesis of Souls is in development for Windows (Steam). An official Steam page is coming soon, and a free demo version is also set to release in 2025.
