Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis gets Final Fantasy 6 collaboration, but one key character is conspicuously absent?
Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is getting a Final Fantasy VI collaboration starting on October 31. The crossover will feature FFVI costumes and a boss battle against the game’s world-destroying villain Kefka.
As the trailer revealed, Aerith will get to cosplay as FFVI’s main character Terra, while Cloud gets a Locke costume. Perhaps more surprisingly, young Sephiroth can wear a costume similar to Edgar Roni Figaro, while Tifa gets to dress up like his brother Sabin (but can she suplex a train though?!).
The majority of reactions to the official announcement of this collaboration and its costumes on X have been positive, however some users lament the apparent absence of Celes. In many ways, Celes is seen as Final Fantasy VI’s second heroine, with her dramatic opera performance and tragic character arc, so many assumed that Tifa would get a Celes costume. It remains to be seen if Celes will be featured in the collaboration in some form. Others thought that Locke would have been a better fit for Yuffie, considering his thief character class.
This Final Fantasy VI event is not Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis’s first crossover. Since its initial release last September, the F2P PC and mobile game has featured collaborations with Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy IX, among others.
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is available on PC (Steam), iOS and Android. The Final Fantasy VI collaboration is scheduled to start on October 31 at 11am (JST).
